Tarte Carried Away Collector’s Set & Adventurer Bag Review

Hey guys and girls,

Today, I am coming to you with a review on a holiday makeup set. Now as you all may know, that every major makeup company comes out with gifts sets for the holidays, and I see that more with the higher end brands. If you are a makeup lover such as myself, than you try to take advantage of these sets because for the most part they are really great deals. Sephora, in my opinion, has the best deals. So,  I am very excited to be sharing with you a review on one of Tarte’s new holiday set called, Carried Away Collector’s Set & Adventurer Bag. When I first saw this, it was in Cora’s (Vintageortacky on YouTube) video. I was blown away of the amount of products in this set and for the price you can get it. Tarte has been one of those brands that I’ve been wanting to try but never got around to trying and now, this is the perfect time. I want to give as much information as possible about this wonderful set. So let’s get on with the review…..

First of all, lets talk about the packaging. Something I have always noticed and what Cora mentioned in her video was that Tarte always puts out one of the best sets of the holiday season. You can tell, they put a lot of effort in the presentation, they put as much thought into the packaging just like their products   The packaging is an attention grabbing and make you walk over to that display and take look. Usually I see they do jewelry box, which made me want to get those but never did (which I now kind of regret). This year, Tarte has the adventurer bag, which is essential a travelling makeup case, and let me say, it’s a pretty darn good one. I have put the Naked palettes ad a MAC blush is the middle compartment, and the two side compartments, you can put brushes, lip and blush, and whatever you need. Some details about the case: a beautiful gold with a purple Aztec pattern with a  gold strap that snap in the front.

When opened, it folds out into 3 different sections with pink interior with 2 side compartments when you can put brushes, lip products, blushes, face products, and a mirror in the middle with a hidden compartment behind it, which contains something special.

Now, on to the products! First off, this set has almost everything you could possibly need,  especially  someone new to makeup and really want to slurge on high end products, then this is a way to go, and almost all of the products are mini’s but a deluxe size. Starting with the Light, Camera Lashes mascara, the Amazonian Clay Finishing powder, and an Amazonian Clay 12 hour blush in Adventurous, which is a shimmering rose and a powder brush on one side. I have not tried the powder or mascara yet. The blush for me, has too much shimmer and I really had to pack on to get it to show up on me so that is something I may give away someone.  If you have a lighter skintone, then this would show up on you.

On the other end, are 8 mini size Maracuja lipglosses. These are actually HALF the size of the full size maracuja lipglosses which are $21, so you are getting a great deal right there. What I like is there are a variety of colors as well as textures.  You have red, to fuschia, to rosy, nude shades and shimmer and cream finishes. However, I am disappointed, the colors look great the tube and swatched, BUT all offer a sheer coverage, and offer more of a glossy tint. Again, if you are of a lighter skintone, the colors may show up better on you but not for me. They are great lipglosses, I will say that they are very moisturizing, it’s not sticky and not too thick, and has a minty scent.

From L to R: Jena (Rosy Nude); Mer (sparkly peach); Ali (sparkly fuchsia); Nuria (cream finish mid-tone hot pink); 2nd row: Heath (mid-tone bronzy w/ sparkles); Casey (Mid-tone Lilac nude?); Anna (cream finish mid-tone neutral pink); Mel (cream finish milky pink)

Now, for the BEST part of this entire set. The eyeshadows. Your getting….. count with me…. 24 FULL size shadows, which, looking on Tarte’s website at their permanent ones are $17 each, which means, you are getting $408 worth of eyeshadows, and this entire set is $54. The palette is hidden behind the mirror, very sleek, and can easily be stored with your other palettes. It has a few matte, along with other finishes, and a beautiful color variety. The pigmentation is amazing and the wear is amazing. I took pictures but my camera sucks, but you’ll get the idea.

As you ca see, these are the lovely 24 full size eyeshadows that consist of a variety of colors to create many of everyday to your holiday looks.

L to R: Snowfall in Paris; Golden Gate Bridge; Volcanic Ash; Pyramid Gold

L to R: Pearl River; Seycelles Sand; Touchdown in Londontown; Martha's Vineyard

L to R: Pebble Beach; Boston Brick; Spanish Sangria; Napa Grapes

L to R: Golden Peach; Tuscan Sun; Acai Jungle: Coral Reef

L to R: Iceland Air; Mystic Seaport; Concrete Jungle; Hampton Waves

L to R: Sunshine State; Hawaiian Palm; Olive Grove; Sin City

My overall opinion: Although I feel that there are a few misses (nothing major, lipglosses could’ve been more opaque) I highly recommend this palette mainly because of the eyeshadows pigmentation and overall quality, wearable, and color selection. I give this palette an A. The packaging is fanatasic and you get a makeup travelling case.

I Hope that you enjoyed this review and foud it helpful. if you have this, comment below and tell me what you think of it.
